Buying a camcorder...

So looking at camcorders for work has got me thinking Id like to get one for myself.

Looking at the small AVCHD ones although cant decide between getting one with a built in hard drive or one that uses memory sticks.

Theres the Sony HDR-CX6EK which is 1080i memory stick pro duo camcorder. It say it can squeeze 2h 55m worth of footage onto a 8gb stick, and it comes with a 4gb one in the box.

It retails for 750-800, although theres some on eBay going for 550+50 shipping. Also theres 8gb mem sticks going for 50 shipped, so Im looking at 650 ish total for the camcorder and 12gb of memory. Obviously one of the main benefits of this one is that its tiny. Also memory gets cheaper as we know and before we know it youll be able to get 16gb sticks for 50 quid, so having it removeable might be handy.

Next theres the Sony HDR-SR7E which has a built in 60Gb hard drive, which can hold 22 hours of footage. Its bigger and the memory is fixed but the bigger size means its better when it comes to sound recording etc. It comes in at just over 600 shipped on eBay.

I can see the perks with using a hard drive based one, never having to faf around with media.... and Im wondering whether Id ever really need more than 22hours in one go.... but I suppose itd be very easy when it comes to editing to just grab the memory stick and plug it in compared to wiring up the camcorder.

If you had the choice which would you go for?

Ive never liked Sony memory sticks TBH and they tend to be a bit more expensive than other kinds on average.

Just bought a 8GB USB2 memory stick for under £30 excluding post.
