Title: Camera Repair
Post by: BigSoy on April 08, 2006, 11:45:36 AM
A while ago I dropped my digital IXUS 430 and the LCD screen on the back has an interior crack in it so the liquid has leaked out and ruined the screen, in the style of an old-school calculator.

Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for somewhere to get it repaired, or whether it will be worthwhile costwise?

Very much doubt you  can get it repaired for less than the cost of new. Such are modern gizmos.

Canon will have a list of service centres for their cameras. Contact their support.

Well, if the optical finder still works, you at least have a cam thats something you can take to new and dangerous locations and not fear losing it.

Id still price it out, but prepare to be shocked. :o

If you have a viewfinder then use that as maxi says, otherwise its a case of buying another one.

IF its over 2 years old then the probability is that its outdated anyway and not worth fixing.

Its perfectly adequate for what it gets used for, so Id rather not spend the dough replacing it.

Obviously I can use the viewfinder, its just annoying not being able to review shots afterwards properly :(
