Anyone run their own site?

Either selling their work or pimping their skillz for freelance jobs? or anything similar?

I see adverts in camera mags dedicated to selling people websites of their work, I have all i need to do the same myself i believe, but is there any point? can you get recognition through this at all?

Ive had a couple of websites that pull directly from Flickr but only pick out certain sets etc, with an expanded portfolio and personal information. Mind you Im not exactly touting for trade, though I have had a couple of communiques every year regarding image uses and semi-commissions ("Could you do..." and if I can do it and its not a big commercial venture Ill do it for free).

My current website totally sucks though, I much prefer the style of www.zpyder.co.uk but prefer the cleaner-content structure of www.muddyboots.co
