I'm curious if anyone else has noticed spikes, since the flickr overhaul?
I seem to get them fairly regularly, maybe every 10-14 days. Except now they're not spikes of 400, but about 3000. Bighugelabs etc doesn't say that I have something in scout or explore, and looking at what's been viewed, it tends to be a lot of images viewed several times, rather than just a few viewed hundreds of times. I'm wondering if the new flickr periodically sifts through user accounts for some reason, and it counts these as views?
I think I read somewhere that its counting views now based on if they turn up in someone's search and if they scroll past the photo as against actually being clicked on it then it counts as a view. One of my photos that's not really that much but has a shooting star, the ISS and Jupiter in it is getting loads of views per day now as is tagged with all sorts. If you go onto one of your photos that's getting loads of views you'll see its probably getting loads from flickr.com, click through onto that and it'll give you what people actually searched for, for this one its had 12 views today and this is what it shows:
Referring domain: flickr.com
Linked from Views
1 Searched for: stars 5
2 Searched for: shooting 3
3 Searched for: star 3
4 Searched for: iss 1
Not sure if its a good thing or not, this way you know your tags are getting you views but the photo hasn't been clicked on so its not really a view per se, last time I looked there's still some moaning going on about it on the help forums.
