hello again

Hello, been a while since Ive been on tekforums but I thought id pop in and show off a toy I picked up today..  8)

Its a canon ef lens, 70-200mm F2.8 all the way, with IS and USM. its easily the best bit of photographic kit Ive used! Im still very much getting the hang of it though.

Will be going out later, and see what I can get with it :) Ive taken a few quick snaps of birds in the garden, I find F2.8 is sooo shallow DOF at 200mm!!!

more pics later, no doubt :)

Very nice, Ive noticed the same depth of field on my panasonic DMC_FZ20 36-432mm (equivalent) F2.8. My lens is about three inches long and a fraction of the weight though.

Photies look good too ;)

If you think a $1500 lens is a little "toy", you have a bit too much disposable income.

nice pics tho. ;)

Well, a long-term toy :)

The Canon EF Lens range isnt half as fast moving as the bit you stick on the end of it - as long as I dont drop it, I should still be shooting through it in 5, or 10 years time.

Is the same with a mahooosive lens hood on it. The guy is using a monopod holding that up. :)

And yeah... that was a case of camera jealousy :D lol.. he was using that about 10 mtrs from me taking photos of the same stuff :D

Yeah, I did buy a monopod for it while I was in the shop, be silly not to really.

I havent actually used that it though, although the lens is heavy its not unbearable, so I just used it hand-held.

Mad pic there, that must be a 400 or 600  a very heavy lens, I can understand why he has a monopod on that one! Ill google and find which one it is, and get the weight.. some of them are very heavy indeed, mines actually very light in comparison to some!

:edit:

seems to be this one ? Which weighs 5300g  - one site has it for £5799

lol what mainly made me think was that.. if im getting this close with just my bogstandard S5000 camera and no other lens or converter.

How insanely close was he getting?! If he could see if the man had shaved in the last two days I wouldnt be surprised.... and I want that :D lol.

I want that damn lens, and to get it I want that damn camera too! :D
