Some questions.
on: August 01, 2006, 00:32:32 AM
One of my friends left his tripod in my house like years ago frmo band practise, and ive just bought a cam... see where im going with this? however.. its missing a piece.. (excuse the fact I dont know any of the right terminology, im a photography noob).

Its the screwy bit that goes into the camera.. and connects to teh sqaurish bit that you lock in. Not the tripod head itself.. just the screwy bit.

Gunna go a few shops and see if they can give me one cheapish (no more than a fiver for a piece of plastic surely!?) But itd be nice if i knew the name of the said piece so I dont look like a moron!

any takers?

ps. (cba making a new thread)
Im using flickr atm and its boss, but i notice theres an upload limit, I wanna share allll my photos, even if I paid, thered still be a 2gb upload limit, which id probably hit.

Anyone know any better photosharing sites? particularly ones that integrate into windows like flickr, thatd be a bit special =)

Some questions.

"Tripod plate" is what youre looking for.

2gb per month is a healthy limit if you resize your photos for screen viewing. Thats 1,000 2mb photos per month!

take the tripod to jessops... and try the various plates to see if it will fit.

There are different sizes and different shapes you see :)

better still, i asked my mate for the plate, woot!

Anotehr friend also lent me a mini tripod with bendy legs, which came in handy for setting the timer and including myself on the pics, very cool indeed.

Alls I need now is some clear sky so I can try get some star shots, I tried some long exposures tonight with the mini tripod, and they came out well, but it was well cloudy.

This shows how dark it was

that last pic could do with a run through noise ninja, or Halcyon noise remover.

Noise ninja uses a noise profile and removes only the noise where halcyon can end up oversharpening or oversoftening the picture, but it does a good job.

neat image is also a good noise reduction option, the demo version being more or less fully functional (no watermarking like noise ninja, but limited JPEG quality) and free for personal use.
