Title: New Camera
Post by: soopahfly on November 16, 2007, 12:11:36 PM
Looking for a new Camera, Upper limit of £200.
Needs to be reasonably compact, although not essential.

Seen the Sony Cybershot - W200

£180.

Anything better?  I like the widescreen (Wide angle) aspect of it, even if the HD bit is a gimmick.  And I know the MP isnt the be-all and end-all.

For a sub £200 camera going off what Ive used before Id plump for the Kodak Easyshare:

My better half has the model that this has replaced and the picture quality is splendid and the optical zoom comes in handy. Battery life is rather splendid as well, and dont be fooled by the DSLR like appearance, its actually quite a dinky little thing and is small enough to fit into your picket with ease. The only real negative is the viewfinder isnt optical but is a miniature LCD screen, but if you use the main LCD on the back then that wont be a problem as it shuts it off to save battery life if you dont use it.

Theres a fairly good review here:

Have they reviewed it?

The Panasonics are usually good value and rather better than most. Personally though I would have a look at their DMC-TZ2. 10X zoom and 6 megapixels will give you a lot of the capability of an SLR in a compact.
