Had an error today
on: November 13, 2010, 17:32:33 PM
Was shooting today, 50D with tamron 17-50 f2.8

Was working fine, and has done on another shoot. I went to take a photo, I heard the mirror move but not the full sound so i looked at the camera and it was displaying err 01 problem with communication between camera and lens. I hadnt taken the lens off all day, seemed quite strange, i turned it off and back on and it was back to working order.

Anyone else experienced this? anything to worry about?

Wonder if the cold could have effected it?

well within operating temperature, i guess if there was slight condensation around the lens mount there could have been an issue

Operating temperature of both the lens and body? Contracting of the metal contacts maybe?

Who knows, only way to be sure is to stick it in the freezer for an hour or two and see if it happens again ;)

Perhaps like other computers, they need to be restarted if there is an error at boot ? I had to restart our whirpool freezer today which have a simple PC (programmable controller) it went to max (-24 C) and stayed there, it would not respond to tempchange control and did not respond to off button !!!
So I pulled the plug for 20 seconds and restarted and went to -18 as it should be, was sitting at -20 for weeks without responding but it let be and did not bother untill today when it went to -24.
