A few photos from a week I spent staying in and around Lampeter. St Davids is well worth a visit if anyone is ever in Pembrokeshire.

I love the fire and the underground passage one, very good
I also like the first shot of the church with the gravestones in the foreground, though Id probably have been tempted to try a multi-shot stitching job from that possition to get the whole building in.

I was tempted to try a multi stitch shot but to the left there was a rather nasty parked car, and further left lots of scaffolding where restoration work is going on and other assorted bits and bobs that werent particuarly photogenic.

What camera are you using?

They were taken with a Kodak Easyshare Z740. Really nice camera for the price, it had only just arrived on the day I was packing to leave so I hadnt had a chance to play with any of the more advanced settings while snapping these, most were taken on auto.

Most peoples photies are taken on auto, most of mine are. A lot of it is getting into the right position and at the right time to get what you want.

I tend to use Aperture priority rather than full auto, but thats probably only because the camera I first learnt to shoot on only had Av mode (Pentax MV, marvelous machine and still takes shots to rival the best). Unless youre aiming for a particular artistic effect which needs shallow DoF, fast or slow shutter or whatever, as Serious said its composition that makes the shot.

It was my first time out with anything remotely resembling a decent camera. I picked it up on a whim after a sale fell through on here for a Kodak camera, I couldnt really afford it at the time but I thought Id treat myself. Im quickly learning I cant live without it, especially with the season changing, there is so much to photograph. :mrgreen: I think Im well and truly hooked, when I become a bit more competant Ill be heading up for an EOS 350D or the likes.

Same here :) Av mode is the one that I choose more than most. Just means I can control DOF without worrying about the extra faff of full manual. :D
