And some more from last week, this time from a local woodland, Thornley Woods

Spotty by russellcram, on Flickr

Nearly managed to get a one of these hanging onto a single grass stalk but buggered up the focusing on it, think I was too close to it, I'm still not great at macro shots of bugs and the like but I'm improving somewhat!

Spotty is likely a 6-spot Burnet. Nice shot :)

I really want to get a ring-flash to enable more DOF to get the whole thing in focus rather than always getting a few legs or antennae out of focus :(

Do you have a flash for your camera already, if so, then there is a flash ring adapter you can get hold of, I think the one I saw was ~£30 from the states, me and a couple of mates were going to go in for an order, to drop the cost...

Great pics BTW, I really need to get a macro lens :) I think I might have to have a look later as none of mine do decent macro.

I have a flash yeah. You've got me wondering if I can adapt the fibre optic ring-light I have for a microscope. It's really swanky :D

There's a 3rd partyflash manufacturer thats meant to make good ring flashes for the money, begins with an M...

I was on a site the other day that had DIY ring flashes for $25, will have a dig around and see if I can find it.

Macro lenses are great, managed to get mine for £160 from CEX about 18 months ago, wouldn't mind the new Sigma 105mm with stabalization and an faster focus motor but I'll survive for now.

This was it:

and a review of it:

Might not last long but for $25 it might be worth trying to see if you want to spend more money buying a proper one.

Just bought myself a new camera bag too, a Tamrac Aero Speedpack 85, I'm going away on holiday first week or so in September to Jersey and could do with something to carry my camera and other gear in whilst on the plane.  Haven't played around with it yet though, will post some pics up if people are interested later on.

By the looks of it, you'd be lucky if it lasted 5 minutes, and really you'd need the bracket at another $10, and also a cord for the flash from your camera..

You'd be better off getting this at £20.72 ($33.40) and this one you still keep the flash mounted to the camera, not attached via some dodgy bracket

Bargain I think.. the one I saw before that Paul S on here showed mt was a bit better as it was adjustable for different height flashes... I'll see if I can find it..

And yeah would like to see the bag, I'm a big lowepro fan, but good to see what the competition have to offer!

Having a search for the adjustable version, I've just come across these LED versions too, which are a little less bulky...

Obviously find one that it compatible with your camera / lens and has good reviews... The first seems to bet the better one..

Interesting, hadn't seen ring flashes that cheap before, knew you could get cheaper ones but thought they were still around the £100 mark.  Hmmm tempting, but it'll have to wait for a bit I'm hoping that I should be able to buy myself a D7000 at the end of the month and along wtih a holiday in Sept to Jersey I'll probably be a bit skint for a while!  We'll see what the new year brings lol.

And no problem about the bag, I'll try and get some photos of it over the weekend once I've had a play with it, so far initial impressions are good.

Just so you are aware though, the last 3 I posted are lights rather than flashes, some are constant on as well I believe, although the first uses the attached flash..
