That is amazing. I must admit that I am tempted to look back at the photography forums and put together a time line of members photos, I seem to remember photos a few years back being a little rough around the edges, at least when compared to stuff like this.

Photos like that could easily be sold as cards, postcards or stock images.

Thanks!

Its basically a very dark filter that cuts down the amount of light that comes into the lens, means you can do long exposures to blur water/clouds and even make people & cars in a street disappear.

Some of my stuff from early on isn't great really, I can see how I've developed over the years especially with things like landscapes just seems to have taken me ages, think I needed to just get out more which I'm doing these days.

Had some fun with some wire wool last week with a friend, got an idea for somewhere else to go next week that could give some good results.

Few weeks ago I managed to find a screen shot of my flickr views from 22nd Jan last year just after I took the photos of the Aurora and started to get loads of views, at the time I had 5348 views and I think I'd had my flickr account since 2007.  I set myself a little goal to get 10,000 views in a year, I missed checking my flickr views on the 22nd, but as of the 23rd I had 15990 views, so I've had 10642 views in a calendar year which I'm quite chuffed about since I'd only been averaging 1000 views a year before that.

Don't think I'll quite manage another 10000 views in the next year as my aurora photos make up about 3000 views of that 10k but I'll try ;)

That's really good going.

Doing a bit of bucket stats I came up with the fact that I have 100 700 views, but then I also have 3833 photos. That equates to about 26.27 views per photo.

You on the otherhand have about 72.03 views per photo

Thanks both, its a good start will be interesting to see what this year brings.

Well done yourself for getting that many views, even at 10k a year it'll take me a while to get close to that many!

Never looked at it like that before, going off that I'm quite pleased especially with a lot of my earlier photos not being named/tagged and grouped very much so I might be able to get that average a bit higher too.

Got a good few ideas on the go at the mo, more wire wool stuff hopefully in the next few weeks and I'm put together a water droplet kit using a 12v solenoid and a raspberry pi, that's had a minor set back though, the solenoid doesn't work, bugger!  Guess I'll just have to buy another one off ebay then.

Been starting to collect myself a few things to play with, a fish tank and a 12v 2 way solenoid got some ideas for both, might be a while before I get everything sorted but its a start.

Yeah getting used to it, need a bit more practice with it but I'm starting to see where I can use it a bit more, just a shame the weathers so rubbish at the mo or I'd get out a bit more especially at lunch time at work.

Another one from the same trip:

The Stars above the Lighthouse by russellcram, on Flickr

Single frame from the startrails I did at the start to Jan, wanted the astrometry bot on flickr to ID the stars but it didn't work doh, however I have managed to get that re-tweeted by the VirtualAstro guy on twitter so its got about 100 views in 10 minutes, nice!
