Possibly, looks like its visible from just before 8 till around 11, found a good picture of where it should be on the guardians website, just depends on the cloud, really clear in Newcastle but as I've come home towards the coast it looks to be getting fairly cloudy doh

I'll have a proper read of the website stuff later on once I've done a bit more research on where to go.

Went out last night for about half an hour but couldn't see a thing through the binoculars I took, few people on twitter last night saying it was very hard to see even with decent binoculars so don't think I stood much chance, shame.

I think to begin with the online shop route is the easiest and for things like putting photos up in shops/cafes I'd need to get the photos printed and framed so it'd take a bit of investment first which I can't afford at the minute.  I could imagine though that it would probably be seen by more people which might result in more sales but I think I'd need to bulk out my portfolio with more photos of iconic landmarks from around the area then throw in a few of the more recent style shots that for the most part could be taken just about anywhere.

I've seen a few people on weekend markets selling photos, don't see many sales though but if your only paying £10-20 or so for your stall and make one or two sales its enough to cover the cost of the stall but again it has high setup costs as I'd have to get a lot of photos printed out.  Something like printing one of each out and having them on display then taking orders might be a good alternative especially when you think an A4 print is about £1 each and A3 is about £3 (hence why I'm printing all of mine off A3 using the MFD's at work  ;D) then your looking at mounts etc.

Failing that, do galleries have amateur open days/evenings? Where you can show your wares at an art gallery to punters?

Haven't heard of that but I'll keep my eye out I'd imagine that they might or if I can give them a good series of prints they put them out somewhere.

Thinking about it, the other option is to make some local postcards etc. You've got some awesome landscapes, are there any local tourist attractions and/or visitor centres? Maybe approach them with samples of your work, and offer to split any profits. you won't make mega bucks, but every time someone buys and sends one of the postcards, the buyer will see your website address on the back, and everyone else who sees it at the other end will too!

That might not be a bad idea, there are a few local touristy type shops in nearby towns, again would need more iconic local landmarks but I could offer them say a pack of 100 postcards of 10 various photos for I dunno £50 which they can sell on at £1 each or whatever and make sure I've got a website setup with a page for buying bigger prints.

I guess another route is joining the local photographic societies. I guess over time work gets shown, wins prizes etc. Good networking. Etc.

I don't know of any local societies as such, there is a bunch of local togs that are a bit of a clique I'm trying to get friendly with, think am slowly getting there by taking some better shots.

One thing I'd try to make sure I do is to plough back profits into more photo related equipment/sites/prints and I did find another site to add to the list www.photo4me.com

Interesting ideas though, thanks for the input folks, looks like I could do with some money to get me started which is great when my boilers packed in last week and is going to take just over £200 to fix joys.

Thanks, took a few attempts for a wave to come along the right size but it really adds to the photo.

Do the blue and yellow together and you could have a game of portal going on!

We've already thought of that, just need somewhere big enough to get 2 shots in the one exposure and then we just need to get a few spins going and have some shots we can merge in of hands/feet/heads poking out of the portals think its do-able but might take a bit of effort.

Haven't been on much over the last few weeks as I've been busy with work, man flu and a trip to the lakes, so here's a couple of my recent shots:
