Popped out to the new forest on sat morning.. got there just after dawn.

Love that last one. Thought about upping the blacks a bit to help it stand out a bit?

Did you need to do anything special to capture those light streams, Ive tried a few times to get shots like that but failed.

Yeah that last one is a bit special, with a bit of Lightroom/PS/gimping could look very good as a wallpaper

Framing wise I kinda prefer this one to the last one:

I'm itching to get out, do a bit of geocaching, and photography. My one shot before I go to Yorkshire for chrimbo is the 15/16th.

I havent done anything with the photos aside from point and shoot

The light through the trees was really just down to the low sun and mist

I think I still prefer the first one, but may be better cropped without the foreground trees.

I'd probably take it to something like this if I was post processing. I have been accused of being over dramatic in my processing though.

I think that's exactly what it needs, a real contrasting, artistic look

This crop, the only thing I don't like about the post processing is that the tree on the right appears too lit so your eye is drawn to the right...

Just a quick play, and have removed the logs, but even more so, too much editing.. but it's late so it's all I'm going to do to it :P

First time I've been on in a while so missed this when you first put it up.

First off good job on actually spotting some Deer, I'd love to have a go at trying to get some proper deer shots first thing in the morning but erm there in lies the problem far too early normally and I don't really have the long lenses or the hides etc for it, maybe one day after I win the lottery.

The last shots the best especially after a bit of editing, the only thing I'd say is that it would have been better if you'd followed the rule of 3rds for composition but you could easily crop the right hand edge off the last edit.  I've never actually managed to get that sort of photo with such a strong ray of light in it, last time I tried was over the sea and it was impossible to get the sea and the sun ray lit correctly.

The New Forest down here is pretty good for generating mist, I think the soil mixture is such that moisture tends to hang around, and then combined with the relatively open areas, quite often you get low lying mist in the morning/evening.

As to deer, you just need to know where to look. Down my neck of the woods, there's an RSPB reserve at Arne where if you walk to the end of the reserve/peninsula, you're guaranteed to see a herd of deer pretty much all day all year round. The deer there as well seem much more people tolerant so it's easier to get photographs, plus with it being an RSPB reserve, there are bird hides scattered around the place, and the deer often walk by. Usually though the hides are only a good option first thing in the morning before you get the bulk of people in, as I think the deer are pretty good at hearing the noises from the hides.

Those were both from Arne, in the morning. I say "first thing" but I don't mean crack of dawn (though I guess it might help). We're talking 9-11am usually.
