New year, new contract.
Tis only a short contract, sorting the fauna from sediment samples taken from around the surf reef area in Boscombe, next to sod all in them, but a few things have been "worthy"...
Starting with the least fugly...an amphipod, couple of mm big...
Some molluscs of some variety, about 0.5 - 1mm big each
Straying into the fugly realm, a polychaete worm with some of its guts extended I think...
And now going into the realm of nuke from orbit, a Pycnogonid, or Sea Spider. Not IDd the species yet but theres a slight chance of it being rare, in which case it poses an interesting question for the permission for this artificial surf reef theyve put on top of the site...
Its only got 3 legs left sadly, so its a bit hard to make out, but these things freak me out almost as much as ticks and mites...
