Why not just take a bit of an IQ drop and get some close up filters? Ive yet to try it but people keep saying that CA can be post processed out, which I might look into at some point I guess.

Each to their own, I love being able to capture what is pretty much invisible to us as an image. Telephoto lenses for birding to me would be a bit of a gimmick I find, and as for using them for getting closer to insects, I find part of the fun is chasing them around a field :D

Dont get it from Simply, unless you dont mind getting a grey import and potentially a long wait/sh*t customer service!

Edit: SRS (srsmicrosystems.co.uk) do the VC for about 380, no idea how good the company is havent looked yet, but dont do grey imports

Amazon direct have the non VC for £280

There may be better deals, just be careful who you buy from and what you get..

SRS are my absolute favourite company to deal with. I only shop elsewhere at all because they only sell camera gear! Think Tekheads at the height of the good old days of Sam, Clockd and Vini. Cant praise them enough TBH.

Nah had an ebayer message me, they missed bidding on it as they lost signal on their phone or sommit, so i relisted and ended it early for them. (I always set a starting price at the value i want for it).

Ive seen far too many complaints about bad service, grey imports and having to threaten legal action against them to bother ordering.

I dont mind grey imports but there are better options to buy from.

I dont know who youre confusing them with Serious, but SRS dont do grey imports. Or are you talking about Simply? I dont know anything about them.

SRS are a Pentax Pro-Centre and an old fashioned camera shop in the best tradition of the term. I bought a Sigma flash gun from them which didnt expose properly and when I took it back they basically said "well send it back to Sigma, and if youre still not satisfied when it comes back well exchange/refund it". I dont think I even had to show them an example image, they just took my word for it. Its helped by the fact that the guy who owns the shop is a complete camera fanatic.

If anyone finds themselves in Watford with nothing to do, I whole heartedly recommend a browse in SRS. Their second hand selection can be a goldmine too, thats where I got my 300mm f/2.8 from
