Want to see how good the Pentax SR system is?

Since I got my K10D a few people have asked me for my opinion of the capabilities of the SR system.

I took these on my way home from a trip to visit my sister in Aberystwyth this weekend. This first shot was taken from a car in motion at aproximately 70MPH (I hasten to add I was in the front passenger seat, photography while driving is a bad idea!)

Pentax K10D + 18-55mm lens @ 45mm
1/4 second exposure
F4.5
ISO 200

This second one I call "Murphys Law of Traffic"

K10D + 18-55mm lens @ 20mm
1 second
F5.6
ISO280

both hand held. They arent the worlds greatest shots I know, but I quite like them and they really show off the capabilities of the SR system. The first one in particular could not be taken without it, tripod or no, that is a bumpy section of motorway. In the full size version you can read the matrix board by the second car in the slow lane, though it does show a little shake.

If I needed a pro cam, itd be the Pentax or a Leica digital rangefinder. No question.

the thing I really love about the system is that, while these shots were taken with the zoom which comes with the camera, the SR works just as well with my 20 year old M and A series prime lenses. Only difference is you have to manually set the focal length for pre-AF lenses.

This camera is a work of art, Im still finding new ways to customise its controls to my liking, and Pentax have already released a firmware update which adds new features like wireless flash control from the built in flash unit.
