Okay, fair enough.
For a total of 32GB, would I be better off getting two matched pairs (4x8Gb) of just one (2x16Gb)?

...and finally: is chaining a CD Drive and two SSDs on one power cable ok? I guess it is otherwise Corsair wouldn't supply 'em.

yeah that's fine :-)

Fiiiiiinal question here:

My mobo manual says it supports DDR4 RAM up to 2133Mhz.  Is that it?  DDR4 is available at much higher speeds is it not?  Maybe that's all that was available at the time?...

Any clue as to what I could go for now?  Just looking to boost this rig a bit before the build in Dec.

:)

...ah wait, hang on.  SATA Express is just 2x SATA 3 connectors plus a 'weirdo' socket.  So I'm guessing the drives will be just as fast in either SATA3 or the Express ports...

Does it matter (speed-wise) whether I connect my SSDs to SATA 3 or SATA Express ports?

I've searched and I can't find a definitive answer.  Apparently, they are supposed to have different plugs but both my SATA 3 and SATAe ports are the same connectors (I have SSDs connected to both types, currently but am I throttling them in the SATA3 ports?).

Haha, I bottled it and bought a Samsung 2Tb SSD!  ;D
Known quanity and I wasn't at all confident the M.2 would fit given the other addons and CPU cooler mount I have in there.
Ah well.  Let's see what happens in December!
