What I don't understand is why this only appearing as big news on Digg, Youtube and the other video sites, but there's nothing about it on any official news channels.

Apparently the US Embassy issued a statement saying it wasn't them and they'd had some of their cars stolen.

what makes it worse is..... everybody runs out of the way, and there's a road there for the it to get through (looks more like a van to me)... but it goes up on the pavement and straight into the crowd  :dunno:

Not that I've done a CP driving course myself but I've worked with CP teams on a few occasions and I'd say that is pretty much screwed up (assuming it was actually a diplomat & close protection team inside the vehicle).

There might be instances where they're permitted to put their foot down in a crowd but I can't see any reasoning/justification for putting their foot down to that extent and, it seems, mounting the pavement when the crowd was running out of the road. They're in an armoured vehicle FFS - these things can take a round to a window from a 50 cal and still stay intact... Very odd behaviour also Given the stolen vehicles/denial from the US this would seem to indicate that it might well have been a pro Mubarak supporter driving the vehicle. (I'd sincerely hope it wasn't seemingly some complete mong from the secret service or a defence contractor working for the embassy.) If we're to assume that it was a stolen vehicle then it paints a rather worrying picture of the supporters of the current regime in Egypt - they're have already been reports of camels etc.. being used against the demonstrators - the complete disregard for human life shown in the footage is utterly disgusting.
