fc9k and the quest for the shiney ring!

15T? Anyway, if youre running a hyperglide cog in a SS sammie, just be careful with chainline, etc, so you dont derail. ;)

14T.  And Im slightly worried about the nastily profiled teeth, but it was Ã,£2 from the friendly bike chap up the road (back at uni at last!) and I figured it would be worth it for a laugh.  Im guessing I can mount it up either way round so that the slant on the teeth opposed the slight chainline angle?

Be carefull is all. I dont trust hyperglide cogs one iota, but I know guys that do. Shimano DX are the best if you want a cog thatll last till the next ice age, but theyre hard to find.

EDIT: hard to find? Perhaps not:

Ill give it a go later this afternoon.  Its mainly just to help me find a ratio I like really, then when I get it right I might go get one of those sexy fat-bottomed surly cogs

get half a dozen, sharpen the teeth and Ninja suriken flying stars [insert ninja smilie here]

arf, its decided to silently and smoothly de-chain itself 3 times so far :D  Thankfully it only seems to do it when Im not putting too much power down, so I still have the requisite number of teeth.

42x14 is nice, but I reckon 42x15 is what I need.  Does the even/odd teeth combination matter much?

Just flesh wounds really.  I was just thinking about how nice it was that my chain had never derailled when I was putting any power down (in fact it hadnt slipped at all for days) when I pull hard away from walking pace past some pedestrians and end up in a tangled heap.

My DX cogs arrived the same day.  How ironic.
