Quote from: mr_rollTo do:
Replace ball joints
Replace front discs and pads
Stop hand brake cable from sticking.
New OS rear wheel arch trim
Fix crack in bumper, or get a new one
Fix Bonnet (get a body shop to beat the bonnet back into shape)
Wash and Polish
Headlight bracket (scrappy)
New Decals
New speakers in front

Done: (May 06 to 12/07/06)
New Vacum pipe
Replaces NS rear wheel bearing
Replaced backbox
Fix rear window heater
Secured bumper
Connected up rear 6x9s
Secured radio with the cage.
Filled up brake fluid
Filled up engine oil
Washed car.
Fixed door as it was lying ~5mm to low and when it closed it would make a horrid noise. (used a jack to jack it up and let it bend it back into shape)
Pushed bonnet down, reshaped it as much as possible
Connected up bonnet leaver cable to latch.

Alternative: Scrap it and buy a decent one :P :nana:

From what I see on the roads, there are a lot more old french cars than old jap cars on the road.

Must have been a badly looked after 205, as the body is galvanised, as is the case with just about every PSA since about 1979.

Thats the car that gave hydropneumatic the bad name - as they chose the wrong sort of rubber for the seals. Was corrected back in the 50s but its stuck - bit like VW and the whole reliability thing that has stuck since the 80s but doesnt ring true any more.

the broken down 06 plate VW passat at work the other day says otherwise ;)

and you dont see many old jap cars about cos jap cars werent popular back then

Mark

Thats what i mean about VWs they arent all that any more.

Jap cars rusted away like crazy and were generally horrible back then - the name datsun still brings back memories of paper thin steel that rotted if you looked at it

Binary Shadow

yet theres about 4 F reg mazda 323s still bombing about in great condition local

Mark

Thats only 1988 though is it not?

We service a load of old 205s still from 1984, and the odd 505 from about 1980 all in cracking shape - diesel ones last forever

The early Datsun Sunnys used to almost rust before your eyes :o
