engine went bang in one of the fridge vans at work... the van was pretty rough anyway so decided to get a new one and sell this one when its fixed

so I bought a new one (on ebay lol)

not a bad van... side door didnt fit properly, and someone had tried to weld it and made a mess of it... needed a new clutch too.... alos the guy had "intermitent" problems starting it when it would need a jump to get it going...

fixed the side door in 30 min with a brace down the inside of it ;)
I already knew wha was causing the starting problems... a nackered battery clamp, so changed that eash..

was planning on doing the clutch asap... but i worked just over 100 hours last week and the week before, so decided to get a loacak garage i know to do it instead.... i know the guys there and theyre pretty decent....

anyway... when i went to pick it up, they had a bucked of water sitting next to the van..... ?

turns out... the gearbox was FULL to the brim with water.... instead of oil ?

weird... am assuming it was in a flood ?

even better than that tho... we drove it back to sunderlan from notingham, and a few hundred miles around sunderland in the 2 weeks the clutch was nackered... and it was fine  :nana:

Could have been flood damage indeed - is there any other telltale flood damage?

Ah I got my golf from Notingham as well :D

Going to be a full set of internal bushes for the gear box, as wont they just rot now?

lol, i think the long hours are making me more amd more dislexic.... even i can see the mistaked there :o

thats the thing, theres no other signs of flood damage at all.... tho the "water in fule filter" light has flasshed on a couple of times... but thats not totaly abnormal :o

as for the gearbox.... am too busy at the moment so going to run it and see how ti does... that one will only do ~500 miles a week anyway... will probably change the oil in a month and see how ti looks !
