the tax people dont exept cover notes anyway :(

madmax

but post office do expect the original insurance cert, not a photocopy or fax (cause the dvla are winkers with that stipulation)

www.dayinsure.com for emergencies.

print your own ins. cert!

Pete

Nice idea, but:

QuoteIMPORTANT - ROAD LICENSING (TAXATION) : dayinsure.com motor insurance certificates provide evidence of insurance in the format prescribed by Road Traffic Act legislation. However, DVLA and UK Post Offices will not accept electronically downloaded documents for road fund licence purposes.
Therefore, you cannot purchase temporary insurance under this arrangement solely for the purposes of obtaining a road fund licence.
Road fund licences should be obtained using documentation supplied by the provider of appropriate annual insurance cover on the relevant vehicle.

If youve got your policy number and a new MOT, with the 11 digit MOT number you can get taxed up online.

Rusty

Indeed you can, but they will only post to the current registered keeper on their records, and since he says hes not got it yet, I guess its safe to assume its not him.

DVLA can be slow as hell at sending out V5s Ive been waiting about 6 weeks so far for mine. In fact I think Im gonna call them and chase it up...

Mark

Theyre thinking of moving all DVLNI services to swansea - god help us all if they do.

I waited 3 months on the last certificate of permanent export from those bastards. They once fined me for 3 cars that I sold off in Nottingham and the change of keepers forms were posted by recorded delivery, by me, the second i handed the keys over. This was after the new owner received his new tax book.

Pete

I managed to get it done today, been out in the car most of the afternoon :D
