Just brimmed the Tank on the Audi before the VAT goes up

It took 55litres and cost £70 and I just worked out that I would have saved £1.53   :drama:

1.49? I think, but yes actually shows what an insignificant increase it actually is "Buy now before the VAT increases!)

Bacon

I worked it out 1.269 + 2.5% = £1.3007 * 55 = £71.53

dont know if that is right though.

knighty

i got 1.49 too....

70/117.5*120=71.49

you did price + 17.5% + 2.5%

which adds 2.5% of the 17.5% extra

like 10x5x2 instead of 10x7 if you get what I mean ?

XEntity

+2.5% is a common misconception, have had to do a lot of things with VAT in my job, hence thinking it was wrong :)

The thing is, unscrupulous places will no doubt use the VAT increase as an excuse to push prices up a little more anyway. Hopefully on the flip side of that coin there will be those that dont change their prices at all.

Probably the same people that used the vat reduction to boost profits.  I dont think I saw a single place actually reduce their prices.

Sam

Its not a 2.5% increase on the VAT rate . Its a 15% increase on the VAT rate.

Serious

£1.49 seems good to me too.

DEViANCE
