Brought the MR2 for MOT today.
All was going swimmingly - until I got to the MOT centre - suddenly oil pressure went, and the next thing I know there is a loud clicking
Small ends must be away - oil pressure has myseteriously reappeared, so there must be a blockage or something wrong with the oil pump.
Have to take the sump off tomorrow and make sure the crank isnt f**ked as well.
That puts me back by at least a month - argh !!

ARSE!
Im sure youll fix though - put some A Team music on in the garage thatll help!
What a bitch !!!
hey.... at least it happend before the MOT instead of during...
dunno what theyre like over there, but the monkies over here would have revd the tits off it without any oil pressure anyway :o
as long as its only small ends, I will just need new rods, gasket set and some time
over here if the mot tester kills your car they are liable to fix it.
I know of a few cases where the tester has let the car badly overheat and they have had to replace the engine.
They also can abandon the test if they think there is a chance somthing like that will happen.
Gutted that this has happened tho mark, hope you get it sorted and damage is minimum.
Well, the mystery continues.
the bottom end is completely undamaged. Im going to have to take the valve train apart to investigate, and take the head off - which means wasting another £200 on a head gasket!
a head gasket is £200!
How come it needs a whole new head gasket?

if you take the head off you need to replace the gasket.
think ive worked out what it is.
The exhaust cam pulley is adjustable - the adjusters worked loose as there wasnt enough loctite on them.
Pretty sure the valves are OK as clearances are all the same as when I first set them. Will do a compression test anyway.
Hopefully get another belt on by Saturday - its a beast of a job with the engine in the car, and book another MOT.
What about the loss of oil pressure
Bad gauge. Was testing it earlier - and it isnt working - just sometimes. The sender has a faulty connection internally as when you whack it it works.
Swapping for a fully mechanical one.
Good to see its not going to cost you so much and youll have it fixed soon.
Bummer.... Good luck with getting all sorted and on the road ASAP.

Presumably even more so if you want 500 bhp out of it without sideways jet thrust
Just waiting on the timing belt now. Should be here tomorrow. Need to find my degree wheel as well so I can dial the camshafts in too.
yeoooooo, it works
idling a bit iffy because the base timing will need set again and syncd to the ECU
Unfortunate. Ill post a cookie over to you if you want? Might help you out :)
