iirc, didn't they get thrashed by the rolls royce cars anyway ?

iirc, they wern't winning so they added front mounted super chargers (sticking right out at the front to keep them cool)
so rolls royce added them too and had to sell 50 quick to make it a "production car" so they could race it..... they got a lot of the lords/land owners to buy 2 or 3 each toget the numbers up....

the difference was the rollers supercharges had a clutch so only ran when needed, the bmw ones ran all the time - if bmw raced too hard there engines blew.....

so one of the roller drivers would race round as fast as he could.... the bmw drivers had totry to keep up but killed there cars every timeso never made it to the end.... the other roller driver would stay in 4th place as a backup car

edit: after typing all of that at work, on a laptop with a buggered keyboard.... I just realised I think i was talking about mercadies not bmw :s
