my uncle dropped into the Lexus dealership for a new battery.... they quoted him £198+VAT for the battery and £120+VAT for fitting....

he told them he could get the same battery somewhere else for £56 (just pulled the number out of the air) so they matched the price..... so he asked for a discount on the fitting saying £120+vat was a bit much... so they came back with.... £100+vat....

so he told them to chuck the battery in the boot and hed sort it out later on ;)

robbing bastards !

I remember when I was a kid seeing ads for free fitting and £25 batteries from places like motabitz etc?!

Goblin

Has something magical happened to cars that you would need help fitting a battery? Last time I did it I unscrewed the two terminals, clipped the new battery in place and screwed the terminals back on.

Havent looked to see if the new car is more complicated than that.
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

soopahfly

Nope, no more difficult.

Some you need a socket/spanner for.
Some are Quick Release.

I know what you mean. I just paid a lot of money for quite a few things to be done to my car too. I just dont have the time to do the work myself. But atleast its done.

You could get a 2nd hand battery from a scrap yard possibly?

I actually have a seperate bank account called "Car Main" and I put money in it each month and use that when I need to, so if something bad happens I can dip into that instead of going with my normal current account.

i now have purchased a new battery for £39.27 with a 3 year warranty , as for paying for it "dad comes to the rescue Again lol" . wonder what we would do without our parents :)
