Picked up the Punto today after Lambda sensor change - still misfiring but not as bad. Preparing to get rid of it but on a hunch WD40d the HT leads - voila! Car driving 100% perfectly - its awesome! Time will tell if this is a permenant fix, and the next rainy morning will be the acid test.

Anyone know why this would help? I dont really understand what they do. (It was something Id read)

they carry very very high voltage to create the spark at the plug.

If the insulation starts to break down and you get some damp weather it can cause the voltage to leak out of the lead and give a weak or no spark, causing a misfire in the cylinder/s that the lead/s control.

WD is a water dispersent and drives out any moisture so will help untill it rains again.

replacing the leads is the thing to do if they are having problems.

Yes, I used to have this problem all the time with my POS Clio, WD40 fixed it temporarily, but good new HTs is the answer.

Then new HT leads it shall be!! Just took it out again and its honestly better than the day I got it! I am so happy right now!! BEER OCLOCK(d)!

eurocarparts are generally a rip-off tbh. They are for citroen hydraulics etc, compared to GSF

ignitionparts where a lot cheaper but due to eurparts free delivery over £50 it worked out better to stick on a new air filter and get free delivery from them. Should be here tommorrow - hope this does the trick!

Right new HT leads fitted along with new air filter. Car currently driving better than it ever did - absolute joy to drive. However Ive been here before so Im not getting excited until its been a few days and survived a good overnight raining on!

If it judders once more after this its going - end of story.

Well so far weve been 2 days judder free! Weve even got through one bout of rain

It really is driving nicely again - having a lot of fun driving now. Im not 100% confident that were out of dodge just yet - few more days and another rain storm and Ill relax. I am however a very happy man for the moment.

hahaha your probably right! Its worked out that with the Abarth scorpions front and rear itll be heading straight to some dirty chav!!
