For anyone that didnt see or hasnt renewed yet, the car insurance went up this year by upto 31%.

QuoteThe double digit increases are in response to the £400m the industry had to pay out to the Motor Insurance Bureau last year to cover to cost of accidents involving uninsured drivers.

This alone added £30 on average to the price of policies for motorists.

Other reasons for the increase have been stated as being increased claims cost and rising fraud.

Mine has risen from £213 to £313 on a 1.4 Seat with a crazy excess. Once the car is MOTd i will sell it and find another car with lower insurance.

Im 28 and mines nearly £470, with 7 years NCD, on a 2L TDCI Mondeo, it is protected which bumps it a bit

But thats just silly, and the best quote I can find!

Ive noticed some diesels have soared in price of the last year or so, 2 or 3 times ive attempted to switch from Petrol and every quote has worked out more expensive, around xmas i nearly bought a Mondeo, i also worked out the V6 was actually cheaper for me to insure, in the end ive switched back to a small petrol, the way the price has hiked on this 1.4 is just ridiculous.

Im paying ~£600 for the 3 litre Soarer, Fully Comp, 5 years NCB.

Eggtastico

Im paying £330 on a 2.8TDiesel L200 with NFU.
No idea why its so cheap as the truck isnt UK Spec or classed as an import
and I have zero no claims as Ive been driving company vehicles for the previous
5 years... oh & i have 6 points on my licence.

Im sure they mentioned a 10% cheaper guarantee for next year as well..

good old farmers union.

Just to say, I tried go-compare, adrian flux, tesco compare, the AA compare, confused.com, etc.

Every single one of them came back with quotes of £750+

so its worth looking at NFU

I was wondering what was going on, as my renewal is £340, which is pretty much what I paid last year.

around £750 FC on my 3.0 Legacy, 25 years old, 6 years NCB 3 points good area etc.. didnt think that was too bad tbh, but im used to paying over £1k

Worked out i will pay £40 a year extra because im a Veterinary Courier now for a job.

This makes absolutely no sense to me, i mean i drive upto 350 miles a day for work, and currently have a van at home, outside of this i rarely drive my own car, which has been sat outside on the drive for 2 weeks, so why must i pay a premium over an Office worker for instance.

Maybe they figure there is a chance at some point your car might be targetted for its potential to have vet supplies in it? I know my neighbour, who is a plumber, has woken up in the middle of the night to find a white van pulled up outside his house with 2 men looking into the back of his van...

Your statement fails :P Read above. Car and Van = 2 vehicles.

To make it clearer the car is mine, and parked on the drive, the van is not mine and parked outside, its also empty if you look through the glass and has no signage :P Its also not insured by myself so they have no way of knowing whether i have a van or not.

On this occasion i would suggest its a charge because they can charge, there is obviously a reason for it, making no sense to me.

probably because driving the van all day = tired = more likely to crash the car after work... or some BS like that

"Veterinary Courier" Bet they have that classed under the "white van driver" category, think you got off lightly with just an extra 40 quid if that is the case! lol

Some jobs are considered higher risk than others and you can end up paying a lot more, going back a good few years, when my brother in law left the army and went to work fulltime as a football coach his insurance jumped well over 200 quid, any job that is under the banner of "professional football" means mega expensive insurance, journalists and broadcasters are also considered very high risk and really get hammered by all accounts.

My insurance is due at the end of next month so just had a look on confused.com and best quote last year with them was £304.18, this year £376.96! ...That is for a 41 year old on a 1.3 KA, with 5 years NCB and no points! (Will have to have a look on comparethemarket later.) I could get insured on a Mini Cooper or Suzuki Swift Sports for about 50 quid more! :disappointed:

I read the above. Just because you have a company van, and goods arent left in it overnight, does not mean a crook at some point wont think that perhaps you might one day need to use your own car, or transport something in your car to your van or whatever. I mean, the plumber neighbour leaves things locked up in his house, didnt stop some people going round finding the addresses of registered plumbers and checking them out late at night, easier than breaking into a property. And lets face it, people wanting medical supplies are going to be off their heads so they wont know any different :D

My sister had a massive insurance jump when she became a pilot. Odd when you consider that shes hardly ever driving ><

Clock'd 0Ne

Even more so considering flight is the statistically safer than driving!
