Hey Everyone, i have fitted in my new Sony XS-F693G Car speakers in the boot of my Peugeot, the fitting went fine, and i have also got a Sony CDXGT410 CD Player too for brilliant sound and it works fine, thing is i dont have a clue how to connect up the speakers to the CD player lol! bear with me as i am a n00b to this stuff, the fitting part i can do fine its usually the connecting which i can find tricky lol i know that the Car speakers are usually connected via a coaxial cable but a mate told me that i might have to use an amp or something for it to work?? i know at the back of the CD player has a few pre-out switches but nothing for coaxial cables... can anyone possibly help me out on what to do??

thanks a lot - Liam

hhmmm well the speakers are definantly a Coaxial connection...

Ah maybe.  Its a long time since I did mine.  So do you want just these connected or are there other speakers too?

Just these two speakers that are fitted in the boot, iv already got some in the front Doors that came already fitted with the car.

If the headunit doesnt have the riht connetors dont you just have to wire them up to the other speakers?! ie extend the wires from the back speakers to the boot?

hhmmmm i could try that i suppose...

I know what you mean by the coaxial connectors... but its not for coaxial cable ;)

mm, its hard to descrivle, you just need some connectors for the speaker end, some normal speaker cable for the run to the CD player, then connectors to match whatever is on the back of that... or theres probably some wires comming out of the connetor in the back of it and just just use a connector block or simmilar ;)

gimme a min to google some pics...

ok... its hard to find any good pictures...

Im guessing the connections on the speakers look like these on the left...

the connecotrs you need should look like these ones on the left...

and the best wire pic i could find was this...

...just pop into a car audio place and theyll talk you throught it and get you all the stuff you need :)

Actually I would have thought knightys second pic with those spade connectors would be more inline with the connector the speakers will use, any old speaker cable will do, cable is cable. Go to a motor store or Halfrauds and buy some cheap. Does you car stereo connect with a chocolate block or ISO connector? You might need a small flat head screwdriver to loosen the terminal ends to crimp the bare wire into it at the right socket point. Read the manual of your Sony player, it will no doubt tell you more about how to wire up to the back of it (good choice BTW, I was looking at that one myself but Ive ordered a Sony CDXGT50UI instead).

^^  I was guessing liam had installed some sort of speaker/boom box etc... not just the speakers on there own... (they have the spaid connectors.. boxes etc.. dont)

Jaimz

Hmmm not a fan of Sony in car units myself- much prefer pioneer or alpine headunits.

All down to personal preference though,

Hi Liam,

You might get a better/perfect answer on Talk Audio - I myself run an amp, but what Knighty & Clockd have said should be about right.
