I'm now the relatively content owner of a Skoda Octavia 1.9 SDI. It'll do; it runs on veg oil!

I'd never let a motor get into that state. Ball joints being bad for example is plain dangerous!

Some people just wait for the MOT to come around - I fix probs as soon as they arise.

I'm not made of money and fix problems when I visit Alan! Unless its brakes/life threatening it can wait. Real men don't need anti-roll bars :yarr:

The biggest problem is I don't know or trust garages enough.

Doesn't the SDI have no turbo?

That would be correct.

QuoteThe SDI engine is generally utilised in applications where reliability and fuel economy are of primary concern. These engines lack any type of forced induction, hence the use of 'suction' in the title, and as such, their power output is lower when compared with a similar displacement turbocharged engine.

Unless someone has bolted a Turbo on somewhere along the line or it has the wrong badges on it?

it'll be a detuned PD engine I would imagine, no one makes diesels without turbos these days.

Mk1 1.9 SDI (no turbo) ;)

pulls well for a non turbo!

the sdi is a safer bet for running on veg oil, a lot of the tdi ones are the PD engine which is no good for veg :o

Clock'd 0Ne

It pulls as well/better than my 1.9 TDI Audi did surprisingly, right through the rev range.
