Quote from: BaconI dont know what your banging on about. Its quite obvious a Tax Disc *Must be displayed (they broadcast it enough in the media).

And please read my previous post i.e.

Quotethe last owner should have cancelled the tax and taken any disc as it was specifically for him as a disabled driver.

Im banging on about the buyer not knowing the tax disc is disabled and having possibly a different system in place in terms of cancellation. And do you have to display the disc if you have declared it as SORN/off road?

No, but its not Sornd yet.. No point arguing about it, he needs to ring DVLA regardless and get it sorted out, the longer he waits the more sh*t he will be in.

Quote from: ERUIf I SORN the vehicle for a few weeks and leave it on my drive and then reapply will this get me back onto normal tax?

Gah, I wasnt referring to Eru, I was referring in general, in situations where someone might buy a car on the assumption that it is not taxed and is sorned, hence no tax disc etc. But whatever, as is obvious, Im not experienced in financial or automobile things :D

Tax Class: PLG

A bit conflicting statements?

To get disabled tax, the tax class has to be disabled, not PLG.
Does the log book(as it was called) say PLG?

Need to know, do you have a tax disc or not, does the log book say Disabled or PLG

If a car is Sornd, im sure there is a form to fill out to re-tax the vehicle (or call DVLA), i dont know ive never done it tbh.

There are situations where a car can be not taxed and not sornd i.e. buying a car from an auction, its then your job to either a) trailer it back to your house, b) drive it back on trade plates (difficult unless your a trader or know a trader), c) tax the car before you take it away from the auction centre.

If a car is sornd when you buy it, just see the above, you cannot drive it while sornd, as far as i am aware.

Far from it your just jumping to conclusions. I know its registered as PLG as it says so on the V5 and when I do an online DVLA tax check. Ive tried to purchase tax online a few times now.

Your right I should have sorted it but ive not been in the country to even get to thinking about it.

There is your excuse. Just explain that to DVLA.

Just got back from the local DVLA office. It seems they didnt have a clue what was going on. From what I could gather it was previously registered as disabled a few times, and then as PLG - because the previous owner wanted a refund on the old tax disc. When I got my new V5 log book they were in the process of reclassifying it as PLG.

Anyhow I now have a PLG car with valid tax :)
