All the parts arrived for it today, was just waiting on some crimpers so I could make some tidier connections to the battery and joining some of the wires.

Pics to follow.

Lights consist of:

1 x 12v 7Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery
2 x lights. 1 x 50w and 1 x 20w or 38w

Theres a short movie too... in which I managed to short circuit the lights and it melted the solder on the switch, so hence why theres only one light working in the final pic :D lol.

Now just to sort out a mounting mechanism for it. Think im gonna go for jubilee clips and a piece of fabric with velcro to hold the battery to cross bar and down tube.

Piccies!!! :)

This next pic shows the short circuit before I fired it up... ARSE!.

One of the terminal connectors in the ceramic lamp holders doesnt have a screw, so at the moment one wire is just a fly lead. In this picture it shows that the fly lead has slipped down and is in fact shorting out. Just didnt notice until I turned the power on for the movie. :D lol. Doh!!!

Movie of crappyness.

Why on earth did you buy ceramic terminal block?
I think the throw of your 12v halogens might be a bit on the short side...and how much does that battery weigh?  :o

That battery is lead acid and weighs ~1kg. Same as was in my recently stolen hedge trimmer. Heavy, but quite happy to be trickle charged for years on end.

According to the RS website an NP7-12 is c. Ã,£23 and weighs 2.65kg!

M3ta7h3ad

aye 2 kg pretty much, but then when I weigh over 120kg (guess here) to be honest its not that much difference.

Ceramic block... because its was the cheapest and easiest stuff to get :) Plus rated for 300W :) As the 50w gets steaming hot when on (tested earlier) prefer the security of ceramic than the plastic crap maplins sells.

Battery cost me Ã,£10 I think from Ebay, and the rest of the stuff was like er.. Ã,£20 extra tops.. and that includes costing for tools and solder and other gubbins that I would/could use for other things :)

M3ta7h3ad

throw? you mean angle? or depth of light?

they are 38degree which is rather wide for my liking but Ill compensate with more wattage :) 38w light will last for the entirity of my commute plus 20 or so minutes. 50w... lasts just over half way according to my calcs.

So just flick between the two and Ill be fine :)

The poor valleys folk will think its an alien invasion with you pelting down a quiet country lane with all manner of flashing gubbins!
