Title: Driving to the Gym...
Post by: M3ta7h3ad on October 28, 2006, 18:03:52 PM
I now understand why there are so many cars parked outside a gym and relatively few bikes.

I cycled the 3 miles there... parked up, and went training for and hour and a half... did 45 minutes on a cross trainer in HIIT style, then some leg weight stuff (extensions, and squats).

Then feeling good and burny in the leg department, I decide its time to head home after a small recovery session in the sauna and whirlpool shower thing.

I was screaming at my legs to move faster, I couldnt get above 12mph think my max with me out of the saddle and really really dying was 13mph.

What was worse is that I had to filter across 4 lanes on a road to get into the correct lane for turning right. Normally not a problem as I just sprint it and get to 20+ mph and just signal and sliiiiddee across, this time I was trying so hard (out of the saddle) and just couldnt get to a safe enough speed to filter over. Thankfully theres an ASL at the end so I just got as far as I could (2 lanes across) filtered between the cars at the red light and rode across the ASL to get into a roughly correct position, but bloody hell I was bricking it.

So folks, if planning on doing leg work in the Gym, DO NOT RIDE YOUR BIKE! :D

Though with all the errands I ran today, Ive covered 12miles and its tipped me over the 275miles so far barrier.

yup -  you should exhaust yourself in the gym really so riding home isnt a great idea.

That said I do ride to and from my gym but then again I tend to swim for 30 mins after and then go to sauna and sit in jacuzzis until I cba to move again :)

As Steve says you should rest before you cycle home to let your muscles recover.

It wasnt pain as such, it was more an incapability to move my legs faster. When I stood up I struggled to support my weight through a rotation.
