I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Most cars over here run just fine on commonly available E85, which is 15% corn vodka. Stoopid Yurpeen cars. :P

Poison_UK

Stupid Americans. That have 3.5l v8s that pull about as much power as a Hybrid!

maximusotter

Right. I guess either youre drunk, or its just another random Bash America day. FWIW, American modern V8s get better fuel economy than their German counterparts. A new Chevy Impala gets about 30mpg on the freeway. Thats tremendous for a very large sedan with a V8, much better than the BMW equivalent. Would I rather have the Chevy then? Hell no. Just pointing out stupid baseless American bashing comments when I see them.

yeah, and the 3.4 puts down a Massive 180Bhp, less than you get from a 2.0 Gold GTi.  they got the fuel economy by wasting the power.  The 5.3 will prolly be something stupid as well :\

Edd

thats probably because mpg is proportional to power produced

not completly, efficiency is important.

you can get higher powered engines with better mpg than other equivelents.

306 d turbo - 1.9td ,90bhp, 45mpg
megane dti - 1.9td, 100bhp, 55bhp
200 sdi - 2.0td, 105bhp, 50mpg

maximusotter

Impala SS: 5.3L 303hp ~30mpg

http://www.chevrolet.com/impala/

Its rated about the same mpg as the standard VW Jetta we get stateside.

I wouldnt buy one, as the stylings a bit nasty, but Id rent one in a heartbeat.

DEViANCE

better than i was expecting but still

BMW 335 - 2979 cc - 301bhp - 29 british mpg (about 35 american mpg)

Edd

isnt the 335 a tubby tho? kinda like comparing lego to duplo there

yeah true, ok the audi a6 with a 4.2 litre v8 with 340bhp and 27mpg.

Buy Volvo: best of both worlds

shofty

id like to point out that american freeways move slower than euopean motorways. in fact the limit is similar to the commnly ackowledged most economical speed of 56mph.  and you still get less fuel economy and less power.

and yes, were bashing american v8s, because theyre slow, inefficient and old technology. is there anything american you wont fight for even though the rest of the world knows your wrong?

Matt

redneck

how does that come into an mpg conversation.

good one.
