erm, why is refueling your car a difficult job? Really, I like to get out of my car and refuel and get some fresh air at the same time. Especially if Im on a long journey and does it only work for the BMW 5 series? What if I park my 106 there, Id have to give it the keys to take the petrol cap off.

I think theyve come up with an over engineered, poorly thought-out solution to a problem that doesnt exist.

mr_roll, its not often I say that you are talking sense, but now is such an occasion.

Never before, and perhaps never again, have I seen such a useless peice of kit.  Its slower than a human, and if faced with a range of cars would probably scratch your paint then piss fuel all over the floor, and set fire to the car.

Dunno about you but when I fill my car up the air certainly isnt fresh! Mind you, I love the smell of petrol in the morning...

If it was my car...Itd kill that machine. My car seems to have some kind of design flaw in the petrol hole thing, no matter which pump I use at whatever station, I can only fill it up at a trickle, anything faster will trip the pumps "full tank" sensor thing :( Tis annoying. Its only a small car that takes a max of £30 at todays prices (from empty) yet it takes me longer to fill it up than the 4x4 putting in £50 of petrol in front of me!

I have a similar problem on the MX-5 zpyder, as its a top mounted fill hole there doesnt seem to be enough back pressure on some pumps and it triggers sensor (this mostly seems to be at Esso stations pumps from my experience). Its rather irritating anyway and theres no way a pointless machine like this would cope.

Also ... at what point to you tell it how much fuel you want? And where do you pay?

Im guessing you have to get out of the car to do at least one of those activities thus negating the point of the excersise.

It does seem to happen more at urban stations. On motorways they seem to work a bit better. Sometimes I wonder if its some small bit of trickery to get you to pay more with the stopping and starting, rather than just filling up in one go? (Not paranoid much, honest)

nige, zpyder.... dont put the nozzel in so far and it should work fine ;)

Clock'd 0Ne

Ive done that before, but it makes it harder to judge when youre brimming it.

If you pull out too far it just ends up all over your shoes  :heehaw:

Poison_UK

Its more economical to drive with 3/4 of a tank well most places say 1/3 of a tank. But its pennies really?

What about that little bit of spillage you always get and it destroys your paint or plastic trim! Stupid thing to design!

The breather hose at the filler neck is blocked.
