Those cars you mentioned arent fast, theyre quick. Well sorted Jap turbod cars are fast. NOTHING the europeans make hold a candle to them as road weapons - unless you go to silly money, and when you do that a few ks on the skyline/supra/whatever and it pisses all over the enzo/carerra gt/etc.

I used to think an M3 was a fast car too, until I had a go in a 900hp supra. Theres nothing like it - my bike felt slower. 0-100 in under 5 seconds, totally crazy.

As much as it pains me to admit it,the Evo is probably the fastest point to point normal car on earth. Forget your lotus sevens or your lotus elises, an evo 5-9 will piss all over it on a track, and on the road, time and time again.

I agree theyre not nearly as fast.  If the question was whats the fastest car you can buy for 20k then I wouldnt suggest them.

I know youre into high BHP cars but frankly a 900BHP horsepower car doesnt make me think I must have one.  It does make me think Id like to have a ride in one.  Once or twice.



But tbh thats not my main goal in life and a lot of other people dont prize that above all else.  Thankfully most of the people who have the money to drop a reasonable amount of money on a car think more the same way so we dont just have giant exhausts and backfiring on every street in the country.  A GTi, M3, Type R etc has more than enough acceleration for most people but the cars actually useable.  Id actually say the golf and civics are a little too revvy at low speed for regular use and find the M3/M5, mk4 GTi TDi (feels faster than the petrols at normal speeds) and XK Jags much more fun to drive.  As for top speeds, I never feel the need to drive at >140mph again.  Once was enough.

Its a question of what you want for 20k.  Id take the M3s etc and be able to throw them around and use them day to day comfortably. Thats the reason Porsches do so well.    If I was purely after speed then Id probably be able to knock together something jet powered with a chair on for 20k and frankly that would be faster than any of them but about as practical as a ice lolly in a bonfore.

Sorry lads, I meant me and a manager were just discussing a £20k car, he aint getting one. Just normally our conversations are for something like £100k cars, which will always be out of reach! But a £20k is within our grasps if you get me, not a dream like a £100k car.

I would like a Skyline to be honest, but theyre too old really IMO when you can get a newish evo/tuscan etc.

The tuscans just a car I have a bit of a soft spot for and should be priced at just over 20k by now.

You could probably pick up a very low mileage 5 year old 3.6l Tuscan for ~20k if you hunted around tbh.  If I really wanted a car to put into a hedge then Id probably go down that route.

If I wanted a real car Id go Golf GTi/Audi RS

If I was a girl Id go Porsche Boxster and pocket 5k for Babycham and hair extensions

They still make the skyline, have since 1957. Just not always in GT-R form.
