And hilly to boot! Yarr, but no match for my meaty treatiness.

I was riding in the second peloton behind the really fast guys, and we rocked about 25mph for a good portion of the first 20 miles, they petered out and I dropped them, feeling very cavalier with no protection from the wind and just my single gear. I missed a turn and ended up turning a 45 mile ride into a half century. Rode for fifteen miles solo till I caught a few stragglers from the leading group and took it home from there.

I thought Id peter out by 35 miles in the hills as I was standing all the way up, but the devil took hold of me in his invisible escalator. On the last grinder, I slid by a bunch of folks that were only doing the short 31 miler, and one woman paid me the best compliment, "you make me wanna puke!" :D

Not sure of the average speed as I stopped a couple times for water and bananas, but roughly 21mph :w00t:

Serious

So you lost cause you got lost

Still it isnt winning but competing that matters ;)

Such races arent competitions against anybody but yourself. ;) I finished in the top 10% of my mileage group, despite my detour and on a single speed bike. Im plenty happy. ;)
