Audi launched the production version of the R8 at the Paris Motor Show a few days ago. I was a bit worried that loads of the nice little details would be lost on the production version but theyve actually managed to surpass my expectations. If the reviews of this car lives upto the build up (and by that I mean it being a serious contender to take on the 911, unlike the M6 and AMV8, which didnt really match the 911s dynamics and track performance) I can seriously see myself investing in the next 3-4 years (if things go well brand new, if not 2nd hand!)

420bhp/317lbft V8 mid mounted, that revs upto 8250 (tweaked version of the powerplant in the RS4), 40/60 split Quattro and the usual all alu constructions wed expect from an Audi. 0-60 4.6sec, top speed 187mph.

Check out the video/config at this site...

Right now its looking like a $100k price sticker, whichll probably translate into Ã,£60-70k, 911 territory. The RS4 which has the same engine but with the engine mounted waay up front managed a 1m 25.x sec around the TG track, so being midmounted with better balance it should be able to trim it a fair amount.

Cant wait to see it on TG

DEViANCE

dont like it at all tbh, but the engines sound good, a diesel version with the Q7 diesel engine would be cool too.

V12 TDI
500PS @ 4,000rpm
1000Nm from 1,750-3,000rpm

produces 250bhp at 1750rpm or somthing mad like that!

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

QuoteTwo transmissions are available: a manual 6-speed gearbox or optionally the Audi R tronic sequential-shift gearbox. Here, too, the influence of the motorsport world is clearly evident, with a joystick gear-shift on the centre console and, most especially, the paddles mounted on the steering wheel, which are a long-established ergonomic feature in motorsport. The best illustration of this is once again the Le Mans winning Audi R8, which also enables the driver to change gear on the steering wheel.

Handbrake, headlamp switch and aircon controls look like their from the new golf.  Just with added bits of chrome and a slightly bigger chamfer.

^^ closest I can get to a handbrake shot

Come to think of it.  It looks like an EOS

Kunal

Similar in style but not the same parts (I drive a Mk5 Golf).

Jaimz

Stupid gearbox, needs a manual!
