Does anyone else feel that there has been a distinct lack of individual displays of skill in this world cup ?

I am not on about goals of splender, I mean those little snippets of an individuals skills that in previous competitions have stood out. The little things that make the commentators go "Oh now, that was special" or "Just Amazing" .

I dont think I have seen anything from anyone yet and chances are that now were in the knockout stages the chances for show boating have gone :( Ronaldho was quoted as saying that he had a load of new tricks to show off in this WC but as of yet he has looked like an average player !

All the teams this year have been strong, look at some of the upsets and the margin of victories - its not as easy for the big teams as its been in previous competitions.

Serious

Its OK to say there should be some individual flair but football (soccer to the yanks) is a game of teams and that should dominate. A team does not consist of one player.

Id say that stellar third goal by Maxi Rodriguez against Mexico qualifies as textbook brilliance.

Overall, despite the overall lack of the "hand of God" its been a fun cup despite some overzealous yellow carding. Biggest disappointment were the Americans inability to play at WC level. You could have taken any team from over here, like the Chicago Fire, and they would have done better than the incohesive and motley "stars" they sent.
