Just cycled home from the girlfriends, (13miles), nice sweeping right hander which i have done a thousand times before, but for some reason the front wheel washed out on me and i hit the deck - skidding across the tarmac on my side and leaving my bike in the middle of the road. Ripped my f*cking bib shorts, grazed my palms and gravel rashed my knee... nothing major or life threatening but it hurts like a bitch at the time... I lay there for about 5 seconds with my LEDs flashing at me, before i realised i was lying sprawled across a road in the dark where cars are doing 40MPH.

Thatll learn ya! I havent managed to fall down in a couple years since I broke my wrist. I did manage to separate from the fixie while doing some fire roading a few weeks ago. As the roads are in a wetland by the river, some of the really nasty patches are mitigated with a few cms of pea gravel. I was going about 15mph or so on smooth dirt, then Im suddenly walking and my bike is stuck in the gravel. Managed to clip out and everything. Magical.

Never had any really nasty road rash in twenty years of owning road bikes. [knocks on wood] Ive always flopped like a fish. Ive had some spectacular bruises on my ass and thighs, though.

my front gave out on me a couple of weeks ago going on a muddy track between uni and winton, lol i just ended up caked in mud.
