Stock height, but its on 17s with quite high profile tyres. £1050, including 6 months tax. It was running on fumes and the bloke gave me £20 back and said "get yourself some petrol", top guy. :cheers: The orange MX-5 he also has shown on his site is a monster, he's done all sorts to it, it sounds more like a V8...

I thought I'd miss the power steering but its not bad at all, just feels a bit stiffer when parking or pulling out at junctions. Electric windows and remote central locking are easy enough to retrofit if I want to later :)


Got back in my Skoda earlier to move it out the way and the gearbox felt like sponge and driving it felt like I was steering a boat.

Looks really tidy and must be a great drive with no driver aides. Always good buying off an enthusiast aswell, looks like it has been his pride and joy.

Maybe a tad over priced for its mileage but look after it and its only going to appreciate over the next few years.

Needs some normal wheels back on it, and it will be spot on :D
Raceland Coilovers are supposed to be cheap and pretty good.

The seller is a dealer who specializes in MX5s, or at least thats what i understood from reading the site.

Yeah he is specialist seller, he basically takes what he likes to call 'orphaned' MX-5s and gives them a good bit of servicing/TLC or tarts them up and then sells them on. He said if I need any jobs doing he's happy to work on the car for cheap (like £20ph labour) or just advise or help out if I want to have a go at doing some work myself and borrow his tools, he's genuinely passionate for the cars and really helpful. I could have stood chatting to him all day about them.

My own pics as promised, not fantastic weather but I waited for the light to be a bit better :) Disappointed I had to spend just under £50 earlier on a new 21mm socket and some McGard locking wheel nuts from Halfrauds though!

The 1.6 is just as much fun as the 1.8, adjust the timing to about 12 deg BTDC and you'll get a nice extra kick out of it without any outlay. I can't really notice much difference between the 1.6 and 1.8 overall, the 1.8 seems to have more power top end though.

It's not just that though.  The earlier 1.6's have a stiffer chassis than the later ones.  The 1.8 later ones have the stiffer chassis.

A strut brace sorts the rigidity right out too, I'm considering adding one at some point as they can be had pretty cheap.

There's some subframe bracing to be done too.

Luckily none of it's expensive.
