£13 for one bulb???

mr_roll

Just super glue your head light shut, then go and get one.

Yeah I know a garage that does them free but it was convienent just to do it on the way home instead of wasting precious weekend time.

Im pretty sure I spent less than that on an entire lightbulb replacement kit from halfors before.

Pete

k, it was £9 for the bulb and £4.99 to fit, -vat cut and it came to like £13.something.

I just went for this, but opted for the 90% super duper ultra turbo Clockd edition daz whiter than white brighter bulbs, on BOGOF. It was a Nigel that fitted it and told me his life story at the same time - furthermore it looked like a good headscratching hour process for a nincompoop like me. A+ for effort.

mr_roll

bah! pansies! I bet *she-devil* could have replaced the light with no problem, or even Miss Kinky! :p

I also get annoyed at those people that get those blooming bright lights... They blind me when at night. They should use that light adjuster to adjust them down a bit.

Good for them. I value my time more than the £5 or whatever it cost me for them to fit them :P

You see, Im very different I will struggle with somthing to get it complete rather than trying to get some "professional" to do it.

I mean if its something like fitting a carpet Ill call in expert advice or if I need to buy a load of tools then Ill get some one else to do it. But if its something that I can possibly do with the tools I have with not to much outlay in terms of £££ then I will give it a go.

Its strange how some people will get people to do things for them, like they just refuse to go under the bonnet, then others will get some company to do all the work.

I wonder what it is that controls that in a persons mind...

Clock'd 0Ne

Ill have a go if I think its feasible.

From my perspective I would have to:

Spend time getting a Haynes/researching on the internet how its all connected
Go out to Halfords, etc and purchase the bulbs anyway
Spend an hour probably slowly and methodically doing all the bits
Spend further time testing I had done it all correctly

Whereas their bloke did it in half the time and I got to watch what he did anyway, so saw what a hassle it was.

Furthermore, the computer told him the wrong bulbs for my car, if he hadnt have known to double check that would have been a big waste of time. And no doubt that would have been wasting more time if I had attempted it myself.

If something is electrical then I will almost always do it myself (including fitting a shower or putting up a tv aerial!). I used to have a string of Golf GTis and I always cursed the cheapskatedness of VW who fitted one rear fog lamp bulb on the right but didnt wire or install the left hand one, even though there was a lampholder there!

The xenon lights on cars dont have user level adjustment because its automatic (has to be by law?).

:stupid: I built an engine a while back and know my way round a toolbox but £5 vs 10mins of my time is no contest.

Paying some one to fit a bulb is dumb.   Its far too easy.
Mark would be turning in his grave...if he was dead of course.

I always thought that was weird on my golf/jetta too..
