Serious

For anyone who thinks £13 for a bulb is excessive BT charged a pensioner £100 for visiting and changing batteries in his phone, although they claimed it should have been £136...

Yes but thats his or her own stupid fault. It is excessive but BT are a business and they need to cover costs. I think its a different situation, but I agree with you you Serious, it is excessive.

Mark would be turning in his grave...if he was dead of course.

He probably died reading this thread.

Unless your car is a real pita, you will have a rubber cap to pull off.
Once thats off, squeeze the two metal retaining arms together and it will release the bulb and holder.
Pull the bulb off the holder.

Reverse.
Dont touch the glass of the new bulb.

Maybe some one should give him a call or get in contact with him to make sure hes not slumped over his computer.

Nooo, email him, hell get it on his blackberry.

I pay £7 fitted at my local garage. Im with Nige - even if it is easy it still isnt worth my time giving myself yet another thing to fiddle about with when they go. Besides which the guys at my local garage are excellent and friendly and so Im happy to put what little business their way that I can.
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

knighty

you say £5 isnt worth 10 min of your time

but would you pay £60 if it took an hour ?

$120 if it took 2 ?

put it another way.... would you pay someone £100 to format your HD and re-install windows ?

Clock'd 0Ne

True point, in this case it took way more than 10 mins though.

No, but my mate who has his own store charges £40 & it takes 2 days as he has that many to do. - he also backup the old HDD, sweeps it for viruses & copies the data back over.
Probably earning £1000 a week just from reinstalls.. thats without the little upgrades & selling genuine licences that people dont have.

If you cant be arsed doing basic checks 1st, then you are agreeing to be charged.  I argued away a £300 bill for an engineer visit because their install was faulty.  If it had been my fault that the system wasnt working Ive got to accept the bill, because it would have been MY fault.  Batteries arent even expensive, so why didn;t the old fart check them 1st?

More on-Topic.  Headlight bulbs for my Veccy are about £3 at the local car spares shop, so I buy and fit them myself as its a 2 minute job.  However the olf Renault 19 I had you couldnt change the headlight bulbs unless you pulled bits off.  Took me nearly an hour to change the offside headlamp bulb because I had to remove most of the air intake system.  Paying Halfrauds a few quid for that would have been worth it, and lets not start on having to take the bumper off to change the  front fog lamp bulbs!

soopahfly

What you gotta remember here is, Halfrauds will only do it if its easy. They have a list of cars not to touch.
Ford Focus being one of them.
