Changed the rims, lowered 30mm, other than that still stock.

Not my first choice of rims by a long shot, but they were ridiculously cheap, anyway, not doing bad for 18.

What size are those? I'm not normally a bigger is better sort but they actually look small on the car, but maybe its a trick of the lens or something.

17" now, stock is 15" you can go bigger 18/19 but the handling goes completely to pot

The dark rims don't help as it blends with the tyres, but as I said in the original post the price was right

That pic is day 1 of the springs being fitted, they've dropped lower now and it looks better, pics to follow when I cba

4/5 basically were just little cosmetic touches, different steering wheel, spoiler etc, same engine et al as the 3 afaik.

The wheels don't look too bad, you could always powder coat or dip them

Perilous times for the Mr2, a drainage point in the door was stuffed so it's rusting, it's also rusting on the sill a bit. So I take it to an Mr2 specialist and they do a 70 point check, they then send me an excel spreadsheet of issues, to get it all sorted and minty 6k

Thats what you get for going to a specialist, plenty of one man bands are good just find a good one and they will be a lot cheaper. Always shop around, if stuck give me your post code and ill try and find some haha

Tried local garages for the door repair, cheap, but issue returned a couple of years later, this and the other work needs doing properly via an Mr2 specialist really. 

I always find its worth paying a bit more for a specialist, they know the cars inside out, have more knowledgable staff and better diagnostic machines, and that usually means they know the best suppliers and workarounds for issues. I spent £1500 at a garage getting my car in a better state when I bought it and it still has issues, I should have gone straight to a specialist like I normally do, but the convenience of the garage being around the corner won me over.

Trying to find a specialist in the South right now for my BMW 735, there's surprisingly few about though.

Welding and paint can be expensive but that is excessive.

You're right, there isn't any*thing* that should be costing that much money, unfortunately it's a few big ticket items (not just the rust, AC Condenser to sort alone is £700 odd, 2 front Bilstein dampers are shagged, £400) doing the lions share of the damage as well as lots of little things, they've sent me a comprehensive breakdown and tbf I can see where it's all going, the car's had 24 hours of labour so far 

Can't some importer like nengun help get parts over?  Be cheaper over there too.

Having had another goosey gander, OEM Toyota parts are just expensive worldwide it seems that said, the stuff that's on its way out has lasted just over 20 years and is still working, albeit not as new.




I appreciate it's a shed load of money, my thoughts were if I put this £6k into something else, what would I get that offers a similar package? Would anything even come close? If it did, what's to say it wouldn't have similar issue lurking that are ready to rear their head in the next couple of years. I've had this car 15 years, frankly I want at least 10 more out of it


I have absolutely no faith in cars beyond ~2005ish as that's when there was IMO a huge creep in needless technology, over reliance on plastics and planned obsolescence that we see on all cars now.
