Only got working on the engine for 4 hours this weekend, but got a good bit done. I got the head on, new valve springs and oil stem seals in, new valves in and the camshafts in and torqued up.

Pics:
New stem oil seals

One of the new valve springs

Getting ready to push last valve spring in

Last spring in and cotters clicked in to place

Head finally on, after torquing to their final torque in 3 stages FIVE times!!

Test fit of new cam

HKS 264 duration Camshafts both in and torqued up

A shot of the camshafts from pulley side, loads of lovely assembly grease everywhere!

Tomorrow I.m going to get it off the bench and get the ancillaries back on, then get the gearbox bolted back on. It goes back in the car this weekend :)

Impressive, what sort of run in will you have to give it? will you be keeping it under like 3K revs for a while?

Mark

Flat out from the word go.

As soon as it starts you cant let it below about 2000rpm for about 20 mins to get the camshafts worn in properly.

Its all gone quiet, is this running now?

Hasnt been any updates in a while!

Still waiting on some parts to arrive to finish, but I have the whole lot assembled and ready to go in. Just waiting on some turbo fittings.

Im over in Hamsterley for 6 sodding days at her brothers wedding so thats valuable time wasted.

Ill get the pix etc up when I get back

I had to do that on my mini, I just upped the idle speed and let it run - dunno if thats a good idea but it meant not having to keep my foot on the pedal all that time.

Nice looking cams.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

odd how things change between cars, like the cam lobes look really narrow compared to what im used to seeing (vauxhalls) all the ones iv seen are at least half as wide again.
