Ive got bog standard speakers in my rover 214.

Theyve been, well, crap, for a while now, and now the driver side one has died completely.

I dont want a whole new system (well i cant afford one), and besides i dont wanna be keepin this car for too long anyway.

But the lack of music in the car will annoy me.

Theres some in halfords for like Ã,£40, that look decent (I think theyre 16.5cm but ill double check).

Would it be easy to straight swap the old speakers for new speakers?
Or do I have to know loads about car electronics?

2 wires at the back with spade connectors, easy

Swap size for size so you dont have to cut any holes bigger.

ive also been wondering about this, the speakers in my 206 are fairly decent as standard, but would like something a bit better, ive got a sub and an amp going spare but dont fancy THUD THUD THUD THUD, was thinking maybe some 6*9s?

6x9s are the devils work.

In a smallish car, your always best with comps up front and sub rear.

Best bet is indeed to just get the same as the existing size. Putting an amp inline for the rear speakers will do wonders for the punch and clarity. Doesnt have to be big at all. A 100w block amp takes up very little room in the boot.

im not putting a sub in cause i actually use the boot, dont really want to put the amp in either, might just get some replacement speakers

some of the low profile active subs are meant to be quite good, and they fit under your seat, ive been looking into them.
