Car tax on new car
on: June 22, 2008, 22:27:44 PM
The new motor Im picking up Tuesday had no road tax so the dealer (post deal) said hell tax it. Thing is a few people have said he cant tax it for me so how will he do it? Bit confused!!

Also what do I do about insurance for the trip home? Can I call direct line tommorrow and arrange for the policy to alter on tuesday night?

you can alter your current insurance policy or norwich union do a free fortnight (just have to get a quote then cancel it after about a week and a half to cover the changeover period...

Ive always called on the day im collecting the vehicle, you can ring them beforehand for a quote and ask for the reference number and a directline if they have one so you can call to arrange insurance on that day.

Go to sellers house and ask if you can use his phone, job done :P

Or borrow a towing dolly :P

he can tax it for you, thats no problem :-)

as for the insurance.... you just phone up, and as long as you tell them the time you want it changed (right now is fine) theyll put that on the paperwork and itll be fine :-)

Guarages have done the same for my brothers present car, and one of mine. TBH it doesnt matter who goes and pays the money providing its got a disk on the car.

If its a dealer, then they can tax it.
You need to take insurance to tax it & Dealers have dealers insurance, so no problem.
