Pete

If someone were to lower their mx5 by 12mm would the ins company notice?

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Serious

Is it worth lowering the suspension by half an inch?

I doubt they would notice though.

Jaimz

If they looked at the springs in the event of a crash and noticed they were aftermarket they may not pay out?!

12mm though?!!?

Jaimz

The springs are only Ã,£80, so I figure I could get them to see what it looks like and if it needs more I could do so.

serious, pm!

It looks fine as is. The wheels are nicely centered in the wells. Looks sharp. Take up a hobby, as lowering your car is completely pointless. Its an MX5 for godsake, youre already only separating ass from assphalt by a couple hocky pucks.

Id leave alone tbh, with all teh speed bumps and sleeping policeman around its bad enough to travel at standard ride height.

If you really want to, ring up your insurer and ask them first. Some are lenient if you maintain its not enhancing the engine performance. Others arnt though.

I phoned up to check they wouldnt get a paddy on about my K&N filter   They didnt. And they switched me to fully comp for only Ã,£60 extra

Mark

damping MUST be adjusted also. Or else you will have a lower, more dangerous car.

Get it totally slammed like mine  :D

How do you drive anywhere without burrowing a hole in your arches :o

chrisdicko

I suprised myself to be honest......but they havent rubbed once! If it did, Id raise it though as they are adjustable.

See thats what worries me, it looks like the front tyres would get chewed to bits if it cornered too fast.

The Focus would look good, but the lowering just destroys it. Looks like the suspension is broken.

1. Lowering gives a questionable performance boost to begin with, and one that few people will exploit.
2. Its mainly done for aesthetic reasons--but aesthetically, from any sane mind, having the wheels centered in the wells makes much more visual sense.

Excuse me, Ive got to go criticize some ionic columns now.
