Just a quick warning for anyone who goes the M6 on a regular/occasional basis.

Between the Coventry (A 46 J1) and Lutterworth/Rugby Junction (A426 J2) it appears they are installing specs cameras permenanty.  The distinctive blue posts that usually mount them are in place on both sides.  They are seperated by about a good 500 yard strech.

Rather sneaky I must say, they blend in quite well considering where your attention is and the fact they are about halfway between the two junctions.

Just a heads up.

Jaimz

Thanks for that mate am going through that section next week.

DEViANCE

specs can be confused easily by changing lane in their field of view apparently.

Cypher

Bit of a guess though isnt it?  You have no idea where the camera is zoomed in on for number plate recognition.  Only a general idea?

Mardoni

doesnt take much brain power to fly through cam1 in lane1 and then as you pass cam1 move into lane2. Stay in lane2 until through cam2, move to lane3 etc.

Cypher

I wouldnt be able to stop laughing if the system was that stupid.

funkychicken9000

Its not.  Switch lane as much as you want, as far as i know you still get bummed.

Cypher

The cameras are up.  It is a section of roadworks.

Jaimz

Yep been through them this eve.

Found myself in a bit of a pickle this afternoon.

Came to it to my suprise to find it is a 50 limit.  Im still in the second lane, which became the outside lane.  I wanted to slow down to get behind a lorry in the first lane and take my time through the roadworks, but I before I knew it I had a lorry up my backside stopping me from doing that trying to overtake that lorry.

If I accelerated to get infront of the first lane lorry, which was the most logical and safest option, I would have most certainly broke the average limit.  In the end that lorry had to undertake me in a way.

I have no idea how I ended up in that situation, but a moment of bad decision making me thinks, or no forward planning.  Slowing down as I was trying to do was just dangerous and was pissing off the lorry behind me.  I swear every truck was speeding through those roadworks like they never spotted those big yellow boxes on blue poles.  Ooh what are those?

Just beware, before you know it your down to two lanes at 50 full of truckers.  I used to have respect for the idea of specs in principle.  :?

redneck

petrol + milkbottle + hockey mask = the mystical firey death of the specs cameras.

A further heads up folks there are also specs on the northbound carriageway through a 50mph roadwords section betwixt Corley services and J4 (M6/M42 interchange)
