I need some to fit my bini, think they're 5.25inch as standard but can take up to 6.5 if they're shallow enough, anyone recommend some nice ones for around £100?

edit: I'd rather keep to the same size as the originals unless bigger=better.

Car also needs more boom, doesn't boom like the old car boomed, so I was thinking some 6x9 subs in the back with an amp maybe. Good idea or would standard 6x9s be better? Don't wanna spend loads, maybe £250-300 including the front speakers.

Can't really have a sub cos i need the boot space and you have to cut the carpet to get an underseat sub in afaik.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

I'm a fan of infinity speakers personally...

And I usually use this place : http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/60_61_108/spd/13cm---5-25-components.html

They have the infinities up at half price at the moment for components ;)

6x9's sound wank.  They are just loud for the sake of it.
They'll overpower the fronts, and you'd need a decent shelf.
They also scream "STEAL ME" to the local tracksuit wearing population.

You would be better off with a nice set of components up front, and a stealthbox in the boot.
Will take up a slight amount of space, but not as much as you think.
Or man up and cut the carpet for an underseat job.

The more stock you leave it looking, the better.
Make sure your headunit has pre-outs as line level converters also sound wank.

I have a pair of (I think) Alpine Type R SPR-176A (6.5") and SPR-136A (5.25") speakers with separate components that im not using any more - also a 4 channel Alpine amp 4x60w RMS I think.

Also have an Alpine cda-9856 head unit in case thats of any use. I stipped it all out of my car before I sold it so its all just sat in doing nothing at the moment. All sounded fantastic together.

6x9 is the std size in a bini rear,

Figures.

Still sh*te, poor sound quality.

You *Might* be able to get some 6x9 subwoofers, Genesis used to do them, but you'd need to spend more on a 4 channel amp then.
Reading up, you'll want some MDF rings to allow you to put most speakers up front, as the standard fitment is shallow.

On a side note:

You can buy an amp 2nd hand, plenty of 4 channel ones on Ebay, would certainly keep the budget down. :D

Some cars are built to boom, some are not. I've noticed VW/Audi sound the best, Vauxhall/Ford next in line with Citroen/Peugeot being rather tinny even when old speakers i.e. Goodmans have been replaced with better units, i guess it boils down to build quality of the vehicle.

Thanks, I'm gonna get those infinity fronts and then go from there.

Got the speakers, got the inner doors off and it's looking like a real faff.

- There are seperate runs of cable to the woofers and tweeters at the front, so the crossovers go where?
- The woofers are gonna need a chunky mdf adapter to fit.
- The old speakers had none-standard connecters, meaning I'm gonna have to cut the old cables somewhere and work out which is +tive and which is -tive, guess I can do this by ear but it's annoying.

tbh I'm thinking of getting them fitted by someone professional tomorrow.

Car audiosecurity do all of the fitting adapters and cable adapters as well I think, not sure if there are in built crossovers if they are separate components?

They are bloody awesome for the money, well impressed, cheers XEntity for suggesting them

I do need more boom though so I'm looking at something like this, http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-in-phase-usw10_p-25817.htm - I dunno if that's any good though.

No problem, I always use the infinities, they can take a lot of a thrashing... also just to mention, they wont be perfect yet, you need to wear them in a little that will give you a bit more thump, as they'll be a little tight at the moment...

Did CA&S sort you out with all the adapters and stuff as well?

...No idea about the sub though?

...But the reviews all seem to be 5 stars on that sub!

But really I'd go more for something like this..

I got the adapter bits from another place because I couldn't see the right wire bits on CA&S.

^ lol I was just looking at that, 160kg  :o
